Tinsley Mortimer: Can't We All Just Get Along?
"I’m so confused at the divide and this rift between two close friends..."
I’m really looking forward to being back with the girls — I've always adored the Hamptons. I love driving Scott’s car, but knowing our track record, I’ll probably have to send it back soon, so I'm not getting too attached.
Anyway, it was fun riding with my sidekick Sonja. Listening to her non-sequiturs all the way to the Hamptons brought me pure joy.
What’s up with this group?!!! Here we are, a circle of friends, supposedly meeting up in the Hamptons to have a great time, and what do we end up doing? Totally splitting into two dissident camps: “the blondes vs. the brunettes.” Can’t we all just get along? Ramona was a gracious host for inviting me to stay at her house, and I truly appreciate her warmth and hospitality — particularly hiring that cute tennis coach to give us a lesson. Ramona is an absolute trip…competitive as hell!
The clambake was my first time meeting Barbara, who seems nice, but far too loyal to Luann. I thought it was rude of her not to insist that Dorinda, Luann’s long-time friend with lots of history together, and Ramona, who was hosting Dorinda, both come to the clambake. (Congrats to ballsy Ramona for coming anyway.) Isn’t Luann supposed to be in a place of forgiveness and moving forward? I’m so confused at the divide and this rift between two close friends, and I think it was wrong of Luann to put Barbara in a tough spot, having her do Luann’s dirty work by punishing Dorinda.
I totally understand why Dorinda was upset being left out of the clambake. She came to the Hamptons expecting to make amends with her old friend and was cut out of that option by Luann herself and her well-intentioned friends. Let’s hope they all start giving Luann a little space and allow her to handle her own battles and deal with the usual demands of life. She’s a big girl…she can do it.
See you next week!
XO, Tinsley
