Here’s What Kathy Hilton Had to Say about Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka’s Engagement Before Their Split

Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka seemed head-over-heels in love — but life got in the way. After getting engaged atop a snow-covered mountain last January, the lovebirds began planning for a wedding, and then for multiple weddings. They couldn't stop gushing over one another. But sadly, as we now know, juggling the planning with Paris' hectic work and travel schedule became too much to handle, and the couple has reportedly split. It came as a surprise to many — but did Paris' mom, Kathy Hilton, have any early indication of what the outcome would be?

On November 8 — just a couple of weeks before news of the split became public — Kyle and Kim Richards' sister didn't let on that she had any inclination the engagement would be called off.

Speaking to US Weekly at an event, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills sister said that she was excited about the upcoming wedding. She also gave some input into what made Hilton and Zylka a strong couple. “I guess they spend a lot of time together and they get along really well, so that’s always a good thing."

Of course, as a loyal mama, Hilton wouldn't necessarily spill all the details on her daughter's breakup to the press. Another source told Us Weekly that the relationship wasn't all peaches and cream. (Alas, what relationship is?) "[Paris] broke up with him a couple of weeks ago,” the source said. “She has been out of the country in Dubai and Australia. Paris realized that it wasn’t meant to be and he wasn’t right for her. There were some problems along the way. She’s done.” 

So, the jury's still out on whether the would-be mother of the bride saw the split coming. But we do know that she gives very tactful interviews!
