After spending a lot of time thinking about her place on the boat, stew Natalya Scudder decided to leave the charter season early on Season 8, Episode 9 (which aired on November 20).

Keep scrolling to find out what Natalya had to say about her decision, and to find out how her boss, Captain Sandy Yawn, reacted to the news.

Why did Natalya Scudder leave Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8?

Following the crew day out, Natalya decided that she wanted to leave the boat. She met with Captain Sandy the morning after to tell her the news. "I feel the need to get off now, like I just don't feel good in my environment," she said, and Captain Sandy praised Natalya for her work ethic.

"I will never find anyone who is as excellent as you," Captain Sandy said about the third stew. "That's for sure. I know that."

The longtime captain told Natalya that she wanted her "to stay," but she understood that Natalya wanted to prioritize her "mental health."

"I feel sad leaving," Natalya admitted, but she did ultimately exit the boat.

Sandy reflected on the two-time Below Deck Mediterranean stew in an interview on the episode.

"I can't make Natalya stay, nor would I," Sandy said. "I want her to feel supported in her decision... Losing Natalya will be hard for the interior. For the next charter, we're in trouble."

Though it was bittersweet for Natalya to leave, she shared how proud she was of her performance.

"I'm very happy for myself that with this season I frickin' stuck it out for as long as I possibly could," she said in her own interview on the episode. "I feel like I made some good friends on this boat, but, at one point, I had to say Sayonara... and leave. Off [and] back to Miami I go."

Natalya Scudder Reflects on Her Decision to Quit

The Aussie native shared more about how she was feeling when she decided to leave the charter season early when she chatted with The Daily Dish in October.

"I'm just kind of in a place where I’m like, 'Why am I here?' I just want to go back to Miami... I actually went back to Australia," she said. "I just wanted to be with my family and friends."
