Read on for what to know about Below Deck Mediterranean’s Katie Flood ahead of the Winter House premiere.
Who is Katie Flood?
Bravo fans first met Katie in Season 6 of Below Deck Mediterranean, when she served as Chief Steward on the yacht Lady Michelle, which was captained by Sandy Yawn. During that season, she worked alongside Malia (who was the Bosun), who are now reuniting in a more relaxed capacity for Winter House Season 3.
On her Instagram page, Katie describes herself as someone who is “traveling all over the world,” and a quick scroll through her jaw-dropping collection of photos proves this to be true. She has shared breathtaking snaps from locations including Turkey, the South of France, New Zealand, California, and Mexico — and that’s just in 2023!
What happened to Katie Flood on Below Deck Mediterranean?
On the Season 6 premiere of Below Deck Med, Captain Sandy held up Katie’s resume and said, “This is impressive… You have some experience.”
The Auckland, New Zealand native expanded on this further in the episode, saying: “I don’t consider myself a typical chief stew. My last boat was a 73-meter, and I had about seven girls under me. When you’re in a higher role, I think it’s important to show that you still work as hard.” Jokingly, she added, “It’s a Capricorn thing!”
Likability as a leader is important to Katie. “I think you get more out of your crew if you’re trying to keep a good vibe on board as opposed to if you’re just a psycho bitch telling them what to do. They’re going to be like, ‘F-ck you.’”
In Season 6, Katie put her philosophy to work as she helmed the interior crew. Across the 18-episode season (including a Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen reunion), Katie felt the weight of demanding guests, dealt with changes to her crew of stews, and managed personal relationships amongst her coworkers and crewmates.
