Is Kristen Doute Bringing Back the Infamous Green Dress for The Valley? Well...
Rumors are flying Kristen's little green dress might make a comeback on The Valley after she recently wore it in a social media post with castmate Zack Wickham.
The revenge dress was arguably made famous by Princess Diana in the 1990s after divorcing the now-King Charles III, and many a celebrity and Bravolebrity have jumped on the trend ever since, including Vanderpump Rules’ Ariana Madix, who sizzled in a red cutout dress for the Season 10 reunion in the wake of of Tom Sandoval’s affair.
But it was another Sandoval ex, Kristen Doute, who wore a revenge dress for him first, and based on her recent social media posts, that dress may be making a comeback on Bravo screens soon.
Kristen made waves when she wore the infamous dress again alongside Vanderpump Rules castmate and SUR manager Peter Madrigal. She posted a reel to her Instagram while Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules filmed in July 2023, writing, “Yes, it’s that dress,” with a green dress emoji.
Singer Joanna Sternberg even commented on the post, “Legend has it that the emoji was based on your iconic moment in the dress.” Former SURver Stassi Schroeder commented, “Omg. Green dress. Iconic,” and Summer House’s Lindsay Hubbard added, “I think after this you need to submit [the dress] to the @bravowwhl clubhouse!”
Why is Kristen' green dress so iconic? That answer goes back to Season 3 of Vanderpump Rules.
Why is Kristen Doute's green dress famous?
In Season 3, Episode 7 of Vanderpump Rules Kristen was filmed getting ready in front of a mirror and talking to her new boyfriend after having broken up with her longtime boyfriend, Tom Sandoval. She revealed she had to stop by Sandoval's house yet again to pick up some of her belongings.
However, she had quite the outfit for the errand: a short green dress with a plunging neckline.
Meanwhile, arguing he didn’t want to be in his apartment alone with Kristen, Sandoval invited Tom Schwartz over for backup for the visit.
“I got your stuff over there,” Sandoval told Kristen when she arrived, as she said she was surprised to see mail for her at his place because she “did a change of address over a week ago.”

“Well, Kristen, also, you haven’t lived here in over six months, so I shouldn’t be getting any of your mail,” Sandoval told her, and then in his confessional added, “She’s just doing that like, extremely cliché thing where it’s like, ‘Look good around your ex,' but it’s like, you just see right through that.”
As the two started to argue, Kristen said, “Babe, uh, Tom — sorry, Freudian slip —” as Schwartz visibly cringed in the background.
Kristen eventually left, and Sandoval said to Schwartz, “She came over here, dressed to the f-cking nines. You know in her mind she was like, ‘There’s a possibility he might try to hook up with me.’ You know that!”
Kristen shed more light on the situation behind the green dress on the Brav Bros podcast in May 2023, explaining that she wasn’t only wearing the dress to see Sandoval.
“I had two things to shoot that day. One did not air,” Kristen claimed on the podcast. “So this was at the time where I had no friends. They brought back my friend Rachel O’Brien, who’s a comedian. She was on a few seasons with me. And Rachel and I were going to have what I was told was like a Sex and the City-type brunch, like dressed like Sex and the City."
What happened to Kristen's green dress after she wore it?
The green dress went on to have a famous future and was even featured in the Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles in July 2017, according to Bustle. The card on display with the dress didn’t give away its owner, but did give hints as to its past.
“I’ve had my share of break-ups, some happened in front of a national audience, some didn’t,” the card read. “This is the dress I wore when I went back to the apartment I shared with my ex to get some last items after we broke up. It was a sh—ty situation, but you gotta look hot if you know you’ll see your ex.”
The Cut also asked 13 of its writers about the moments from Vanderpump Rules they “think about a lot” for a series back in April 2019, and the green dress made the cut.
“Oh, God. Oh, no, Kristen. We know exactly what she is attempting to do,” Kelly Conaboy, writer-at-large for The Cut, said. “Just remembering the scene, my heart fills with second-hand embarrassment so severe it feels like first-hand.”
Conaboy later added in the article, “The scene is absolutely one of the cringiest in Vanderpump history and I hate it so much, oh my God, it’s amazing.”
Kristen shared more about what happened to the dress after its Vanderpump Rules appearance on the Brav Bros podcast in May 2023.
“I’m getting that dress back,” she said on the podcast. “Because I actually gave it to Stassi’s little sister, Georgie, like years and years ago. I’m like, ‘I cannot ever touch this again.’”
Soon after that comment, Kristen wore the dress for her Instagram post with Peter at SUR in July 2023, but then it recently made a third appearance — with a hint that it might be seen on Bravo’s upcoming show The Valley.
Kristen posted a video on her Instagram in December 2023 of her wearing the green dress, and made a “who wore it better” comparison with her The Valley castmate, Zack Wickham, who was also in the green ensemble.
Fingers crossed for a return of the revenge dress when The Valley premieres on Bravo in spring 2024!
