Get All the Details on Whitney Sudler-Smith's Career Outside of Southern Charm

Since introducing us to the dramatic residents of Charleston in Southern Charm, Whitney Sudler-Smith has given viewers glimpses of his own life. However, some fans may be wondering what Whitney gets up to in his career when he's not mixing it up with the Charmers, including his mom, Patricia Altschul (you can hear more about their relationship in the video above).

According to his Instagram bio, he's a bit of a Renaissance man in the creative world and, yes, a pet lover: "I write, make movies and TV shows, and can shred Metal on [the] guitar. I also have five dogs."

What does Whitney from Southern Charm do?

Whitney is the Creator and Executive Producer of Southern Charm. In addition to the OG series, Whitney also served as an executive producer on the show’s spin-offs, Southern Charm Savannah and Southern Charm New Orleans.

"It was kind of a weird pipe dream and it's kind of ballooned into this monster," Whitney told The Daily Dish in 2018. "But I think we're all pleased. It's really a great show."

In fact, Whitney has other projects outside of the world of Southern Charm and keeps racking up more credits on his resume. 

"I am hardworking, No. 1. I have a production company [with] various shows in development or producing," he said in that interview with The Daily Dish back in 2018. "I've been playing in rock bands throughout my whole life, and I can shred heavy metal guitar, and I used to be in bands. And I had long hair and played in a lot of heavy metal bands. I play guitar every day. I'll say it's my hobby now, but I'm addicted to guitar, and I play at least an hour a day. And I'm classically trained."

Whitney Sudler-Smith explains his journey in TV and the creative arts

Whitney's previous films include  Ultrasuede: In Search of Halston, a documentary about the fashion designer. He's also an accomplished musician and he spends time on the West Coast as he pursues his film and TV projects.

He previously told BravoTV.com: “I pursued screenwriting in the '90s to various degrees of success and then got into directing. Once I kind of laid roots here [in Los Angeles], I kind of never left. You have your ups and downs in any kind of career but especially in a film career. In the past 10, 12 years, it kind of picked back up — getting a production company together. We're doing a lot of other stuff. I have an office I got to from time-to-time. It's busy here, for sure."
