Ryan Serhant Reveals All the Jobs He Had Before Becoming a Real Estate Broker
The MDLNY cast member opened up about the days before his successful career.
Ryan Serhant has a pretty impressive resume. The Million Dollar Listing New York and Sell It Like Serhant cast member is a successful real estate broker and author, but he had a few other interesting jobs before he entered the industry he’s in now.
In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of the release of his second book, Big Money Energy, Ryan detailed the odd jobs he picked up when he was short on cash in his early days living in New York.
“I moved to New York and I ran out of money. I was paying my rent by hand modeling. I was holding phones for AT&T. I was passing out fliers for gyms. I was just piecing ends together each month so that I could pay my rent, so I didn’t have to leave New York.”
Ryan also shared the moment that changed his career. When a new client from China was interested in buying, Ryan prepared with lots of research, and a new outfit. “I’m going to make sure she knows that I’m the best broker that she could possibly work with. And that completely changed my mindset,” he said. “I changed my energy, and she bought a place for over $2 million from me. That was a big deciding moment for me, and then I was off to the races.”
Ryan’s newest book will detail how he “realized I could change my ENERGY to change my LIFE.” In a previous Instagram post, the proud dad even joked that it was co-written by his daughter, Zena, so it’s safe to assume this one will be a great read.
