Here's Why Billie Lee "Needed a Fresh Start" When She Was Hired to Work at SUR

Billie Lee may be the newest addition to Vanderpump Rules, but we're already in love with the SUR hostess. Not only does she know how to bring the drama (watch the above clip to see what we mean), but she's also inspiring us by sharing her journey as a trans woman. 

Billie Lee recently told Page Six that she's excited to share what dating is like for trans women this season of Vanderpump Rules. “We go through a lot of rejection,” she said. “I was a little nervous to date and have cameras follow me on my date because I was fearful of that rejection on television, but you just have to live your life and your truth. I think people are going to see that and understand the trans experience more."

Joining the SUR squad was a cathartic experience for Billie Lee, who was in the process of dealing with some romance woes when Lisa Vanderpump hired her. “I was going through a breakup at the time,” she said. “I needed a fresh start. It was good to have new friends.” 

One friendship that has raised some eyebrows this season has been Billie Lee's camaraderie with Jax Taylor, considering his drama with girlfriend Brittany Cartwright. Billie Lee previously explained to E! News why she and the SUR bartender became such fast friends. "When I started at SUR they were going through their whole drama and him cheating and I felt like everyone was so mean to him," she said. "I didn't really know him and I'm the kind of person if someone's in the doghouse I want to go and pet the dog, give him a little bone and just say hi ... I just wanted to inspire him and not be mean to him."
