Tom Schwartz's Bachelor Party Helped Him Fulfull His Dream of Dressing in Drag
The #PumpRules pals broke down their female personas a little further.
When the Vanderpump Rules crew headed to New Orleans for the joint bachelor and bachelor party for Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz, the groom got to do something he's always kind of wanted to do: dress in drag.
"I've always wanted to. I don't know why. [It was] not this burning desire, but it was always in there," he told The Daily Dish. "I was like 'I just want to one time. I want to commit and go full drag,' and I felt like this was the perfect opportunity."
The drag experiment even included Ariana Madix embracing her inner drag king and looking fierce in the process.
Schwartz was all in to embrace his inner female, noting that he and the crew went the "full nine yards." But, most of the leg work to make it happen really fell on Tom Sandoval. "I came up with the idea of just maybe putting Schwartz in a dress and giving him like sash and kind of trolling him one night," Sandoval recalled. "And then he's like, 'Instead, why don't we all do full-blown drag?'" So that's when Sandoval stepped up his game. He said, "I was like, 'Guys, if we're doing this, we're doing this right... We're going shopping.' And they're like, 'Oh, I'm kind of busy. Just run by, pick me up some [stuff]. Pick me up a wig.' I'm like, 'Guys, I'm not going by CVS to pick up deodorant and toothpaste. This is bras, cutlets, ass pads, shoes, nails, lashes.'"
The Toms and the crew really committed to the endeavor. Well, almost everyone did. "But I had to get Jax's wig, Peter's wig. I got Carter a wig, which he backed out [of wearing at the] last second," Sandoval said. "They forgot to put my wig in there, so I had to use Jax's wig, which looked like an Elvira kind of wig or something. For five hours, I took off my heels once for like 10 minutes. I stayed in those heels and on my feet all night."
As for their drag names, the Toms opted for Visa Manderhump and Jen Rod, clearly paying homage to SUR bosses Lisa Vanderpump and Ken Todd. So, how did Sandoval dream those names up? "Obviously there should be a play on words."
Mission accomplished. Check out another highlight from the New Orleans trip, below.
