Ashley Jacobs on New Boyfriend Mike Appel: "I'm Not Broken Anymore"
"It feels too good to be true," the Southern Charm nurse said of her new relationship.
New year, new boyfriend for Ashley Jacobs.
Ashley went public with her new relationship with Mike Appel in December 2019, and now the Southern Charm nurse is giving more details on her man in a recent interview with Us Weekly. “I’m so happy,” Ashley told Us Weekly. “It’s weird having something so healthy. It feels too good to be true, but I think [that's] how most things are to be honest with you.”
She admitted that she had "some issues" and "was a bit broken" prior to meeting Mike. “I realized that sometimes you know, you find people that are worse off than you, almost just to make yourself feel better about it,” Ashley said. “I realized that I just wasn’t in a good place. … But I’m not broken anymore.”
Ashley said that she was in such a bad space during her time on Southern Charm that she didn't “see the light at the end of the tunnel."
“I didn’t know how I was going to get out of it and [to] be honest with you, it just kept stacking up higher and higher to where I just felt like it’s almost impossible," she said. "You know, like, ‘I’m never going to get out of this.’”
There were times when Ashley said she felt "just hopeless" and "just disappointed and ashamed of things I did." She added, "It’s one thing if it’s on you, your family and your friends, but like, for everyone else to see it."
Ashley said that she's still getting used to being in such a different place in her current relationship. “I still live in those moments even with my current boyfriend. It’s like, I don’t call him back right away and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, is he gonna pick up my phone call? Is he gonna be mad?’” she shared. “And he’s not and I’m like, ‘I have to re-train my brain, you know, this is healthy! That’s what it’s supposed to be!’ And I’m not saying that I was never in another healthy relationship, I was. I just don’t remember. It’s like, I have amnesia everything prior to this.”
Ashley made things Instagram official with her new boyfriend in a post on December 2, 2019. "Found someone close to my own age!! And our birthdays are just a day a part!" Ashley gushed in the post. "Happy birthday to this cutie. Thanks for making me smile!!"
