Sonja Morgan Opens up About Going Through Bankruptcy
The Real Housewives of New York City renaissance woman shares where things stand with her finances today.
Sonja Morgan is living her best life these days. Seriously, did you see her photo shoot for Paper Magazine? However, The Real Housewives of New York City mom had to go through some major challenges before she could rise from the ashes like the phoenix that she is today.
Perhaps one of the most notable obstacles Sonja overcame was bouncing back from filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2010, which she has often opened up about on RHONY over the years. Sonja spoke more about her past financial struggles during Wednesday night's Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen After Show after one caller asked if she was "happy-go-lucky" now that her bankruptcy is behind her (clip above). "Well, not happy-go-lucky. I have an 18-year-old to get through college," Sonja said of her daughter. "But I'm out of my Chapter 11 reorganization, which means I paid 100 percent on the dollar."
In the years since Sonja settled her bankruptcy case in 2015, she has explored many different business opportunities, including performing onstage, launching her very own fashion and shoe lines, and renting out her beloved Upper East Side townhouse. Sonja also reminded us that she has "an international fashion lifestyle brand" on WWHL while teasing that she'd like to have her own line of homeware in the future.
