Lisa Vanderpump Explains Why She Wasn't at the Opening of Something About Her
The Vanderpump Rules restaurateur shares why she isn't rushing to Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney's sandwich shop.
Lisa Vanderpump has been a part of the journey as Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney worked for years to create Something About Her. So when the long-awaited sandwich shop finally opened on May 22, many Vanderpump Rules fans were surprised by Lisa's absence from the big day (as well as the soft opening on May 16).
In a recent interview, Lisa explained why she wasn't there — and why she isn't rushing to make an appearance just yet.
“I’m going to give them a minute,” Lisa said on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast
“I don’t invite anybody to my restaurants for the first two weeks,” she continued. “I want a minute to sort out all the problems before I say we’re open. They’re open, but let’s give them a minute.”

Lisa Vanderpump's reaction to Something About Her's delayed opening
As Vanderpump Rules viewers know, the opening was significantly delayed due to permit issues. On Season 11, Episode 9, Lisa shared her thoughts on the matter.
"I can't believe that sandwich shop is still not open," she said in an interview. "They signed the lease over a year ago, and the money they spent on the place, it costs a fortune to have a space that's empty. And sandwiches? They've got to sell a sh-tload. They need to start right now."

Despite all of the unexpected obstacles, Ariana is proud of the way she and Katie navigated the journey to opening.
"There are so many unforeseen things you can’t plan for," she told The Daily Dish in a May 21 interview. "I think us being able to roll with the punches, and just keep going, and keep looking ahead, and keep believing and staying committed to it, I think that’s how we were able to get to this point."
Now that the restaurant is open, Katie and Ariana already have big plans for what's next. "We need it to be a smashing success because we would love to have more locations," Katie said in the same interview. "In New York, ideally, and then everywhere else in the world."
