Shep Rose Reacts to Whitney Sudler-Smith's "Showmance" Comments About His Relationship

The Southern Charm cast member has taken a step in his relationship that surprised both Andy and Leva.

By Laura Rosenfeld

When Patricia Altschul appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in December 2020, she revealed that, although she thought Shep Rose's new girlfriend, Taylor Ann Green, is "an awfully nice girl," her son, Whitney Sudler-Smith had some doubts about the relationship.

How to Watch

Watch Southern Charm on Bravo Thursday, December 5 at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo App.

"Whitney refers to it as a showmance," Patricia told Andy Cohen before adding, "I think if they last through the reunion, then we have to see. That'll be the determining factor."

Shep got the chance to respond to Whitney's "showmance" comments during his most recent appearance on WWHL on January 21. "No, Whitney just wants me to be like him. He wants me to go into my 50s without a marriage, without a family, that sort of thing," Shep said during the WWHL After Show. "Honestly, it's not a bad life. He just got back home from Tulum and all this s--t. He has a lot of fun."

Shep's Southern Charm cast mate and fellow WWHL guest Leva Bonaparte noted that she had changed her mind about the relationship. "I was a doubter, but now that I've seen them together, I think that they're gonna make it," Leva shared during the WWHL After Show. "Like, they're quite cute."

In actuality, Whitney is a fan of Shep's new relationship. When Andy asked Shep if Taylor has gotten "Patricia's appoval" earlier in the episode (clip above), he said, "Unfortunately, with COVID, she hasn't had a lot of time to spend with Patricia, but she loves Whitney and Whitney loves her. So maybe by osmosis, Patricia [gave her] blessing."

The Southern Charm couple has been able to meet the other's parents, with Shep adding, "And then our parents have met." That revelation got a "wow" from Andy during the show, and prompted Leva to note, "That's serious."

Speaking of things getting "serious," though Shep and Taylor have not moved in with each other yet, he said, "But she stays with me six nights a week. We might as well live together."

When Andy asked if they had "celebrated any anniversary milestones together yet," Shep said, "Yeah, we were kind of talking about that... So this November, we were like, 'I think it's been a year?' But that kind of thing isn't important to her, thank goodness," adding that was "another quality" he appreciates in Taylor.

In fact, it's how much everyone loves Taylor that has made this relationship so much better than any others Shep has experienced in the past. "She's one of the guys. And my friends all love her, my family loves her," Shep said. "It's just nice to have that support. And you have people who are like, 'I love your girlfriend,' and it just feels good. It makes you feel warm and fuzzy, because you do too, and it's confirmation."
