Candiace Dillard Bassett Just Dropped a New Song with Trina, and That’s Just the Beginning (UPDATED)
The RHOP cast member also shared what her mom, Dorothy, thinks of her music and takes fans inside the making of her music video.
UPDATED (December 14, 12:24 P.M.): In a preview from the December 18 episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac, Candiace takes fans inside the making of the music video for "Insecure" featuring Trina. Check it out, above!
The original story continues below.
Candiace Dillard Bassett just added a new member to her squad, thanks to her collaboration with Trina. The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member dropped her single, “Insecure,” featuring the performer on November 27, and as she recently shared with BravoTV.com, she has a lot more on the horizon, including more tour dates coming down the line so fans can get the chance to see her perform the song IRL.
In addition to taking her act to more City Winery stops “early next year,” she noted that there will be “lots of dates next spring and summer” when fans can come check her out, if that interests you.
As for her new single, set to be included on her Deep Space Deluxe album out next month, well, she speaks more about that in the video at the top of this post.
With so much happening in her life and career, some fans might wonder how Candiace does it all. She noted, “I believe that I can do it. And I have an amazing support system around me to support me and all of my endeavors, and I just, I put my head down and I dug it out.”
And you can bet that support system includes her mom, Dorothy, despite some reservations about Candiace’s music persona.
“My mom has heard my album. My mom is not a musical person. I get all of my music sense from my dad. So my dad studied my album and listens to every song and it’s in his playlist. But my mom, she has heard the entire album. My mom was kind of a prude, and you know, I curse on my album, I talk about sex on my album. So she's like, ‘Candiace, why are you talking about fees?’” Candiace said, further noting, though, that Dorothy is right there to show her daughter how much she loves her and what she’s doing in her career, amid the, um, confusion.
“But she’s very proud of me. I recently finished my first tour… She rented a bus and brought 30 people to the Atlanta show. And she was very proud,” Candiace recalled. “She was almost in tears after the show, just really proud of what I’m doing. And she takes all the credit, ’cause she’s like, ‘I put her in pageants when she was 5.’ I’m named after Candice Bergen. She used to watch Murphy Brown, so I’m named after Candice Bergen and Dominique Deveraux from Dynasty, if anybody remembers that soap opera. So she takes all the credit for me being a star. But in short, yes, she has listened to the album. She’s very proud of it.”
