Why Dolores Catania Calls the RHONJ Season 13 Finale "an Explosion"
As Teresa's family issues with Joe and Melissa Gorga boil over, Dolores reveals what fans can expect from the final episode.
Season 13 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey will soon be coming to a close, but according to Dolores Catania, the season will go out with a bang, not a whimper.
“The finale is just, like, an explosion," Dolores said during a chat with The A.V. Club. Season 13 addition, Rachel Fuda, agreed.
"That’s the best word," Rachel said. "That’s exactly what happened — like, somebody set [off] a bomb and just walked away.”
While fans will have to stay tuned to find out what exactly goes down during the dramatic finale, tensions are rising on the show as Teresa Giudice and Luis "Louie" Ruelas' wedding day is approaching.
What's more, Teresa and family members Joe Gorga and Melissa Gorga haven't been getting along throughout Season 13. Following some Season 12 reunion drama (including Joe Gorga's walk-off), the spouses felt snubbed when Melissa was initially excluded from Teresa's bridal party, and when her mom and sisters didn't secure invites to the actual wedding.
The RHONJ O.G., on the other hand, felt like her brother and sister-in-law hadn't been supportive of her relationship with Louie.
Though Teresa and Melissa shared an emotional moment together during the group's trip to Ireland, the peace between the sisters-in-law didn't last long.
On Episode 13, Louie called Teresa when she was on the way to her surprise bridal shower to share that he was planning on "not inviting" Joe and Melissa to a pre-wedding event (though Teresa told him "to invite everyone").
While viewers have known that Joe and Melissa didn't end up attending Teresa and Louie's wedding, they are now seeing how the family members' issues unfolded. According to Andy Cohen, those issues aren't easily resolved at the Season 13 reunion, either.
“I’ve got to tell you, the level — I won’t even say vitriol, I will just say hate — between Teresa and Melissa, it’s... I mean, the gloves are off," Andy said during an episode of his Radio Andy show on SiriusXM. I’ve never seen anything like it. And the way the two of them were going back and forth, it was that thing of neither wanted the other to have the last word in any petty fight."
He added that in addition to talking about the family members' long-simmering feud, the rest of the cast discussed plenty of other topics.
“There were a ton of new allegations being made. There was a lot of new material to get into, which was good, so we didn’t spend a ton of time rehashing the past," he teased. "We leaned into a lot of the new stuff.”
