The RHOA cast member’s husband, Todd, gushed about Kandi’s latest achievements, noting that she’s “on [her] way to that EGOT.”

Kandi Burruss is a Grammy Award winner, a celebrated producer, the owner of two popular Atlanta restaurants, and a 14-year cast member on The Real Housewives of Atlanta — and now she’s adding even more honors to her résumé.

All the details on Kandi Burruss' Emmy Award nomination.

On Monday, May 1, Kandi announced that she has been nominated for a Southeast Emmy Award in the “Historic/Cultural/Politics/Government/Societal Concerns” category for her work in La Musica de La Familia.

“It’s a project that I never even told anybody I was involved in,” Kandi said on Instagram about the Emmy nomination (see her full reaction to the exciting news by scrolling below). “Hopefully I will have another moment like this tomorrow, as they announce the Tony nominations tomorrow.”

Kandi Burruss has also been nominated for a Tony Award.

Kandi did indeed have “another moment like this.” The day after she received her Southeast Emmy nod, the Xscape songstress and her husband, Todd Tucker, shared the exciting news that the Broadway show they produced, The Piano Lesson, received a nomination in the “Best Revival of a Play” category for the upcoming 76th annual Tony Awards.

“Wow we are Tony Award nominated Producers! [Kandi] you[’re] on your way to that EGOT,” Todd wrote. “What a great week[.] Emmy nomination and a Tony nomination!”

In addition to the couple’s Tony nomination, The Piano Lesson was recognized in three separate categories for the upcoming Drama League Awards, and in five for the Drama Desk Awards.

Back in January, while The Piano Lesson was still a few weeks away from finishing its run, Kandi and Todd learned that it had become the “highest grossing August Wilson play” in history.

“[D]ream coming true,” Kandi noted on Instagram about the accomplishment.

She also commented on the Tony nod on her Instagram, writing, “Y’all I’ve been screaming [and] praising God all morning! Wow! Just wow! We got the Tony nomination yall! I’ve been praying for this. To share this moment with my husband is just awesome. [Brian Moreland]!!!!!!! You’re the man! Sonia Friedman [and] Tom Kirdhay let’s go! And to [LaTanya Richardson Jackson] I absolutely love you! Thanks so much for everything! Congratulations [Samuel L. Jackson] on your nomination! To our whole [The Piano Lesson] family I love y’all! Let’s take it all the way home!”

The Old Lady Gang owner will have to wait until the Tony and Southeast Emmy Awards happen to find out if she’s any closer to achieving a different dream of hers: obtaining EGOT status.

What Kandi wants to accomplish next.

Kandi's recent Emmy and Tony Award nods are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to her long-term goals. In an interview with The Daily Dish in April 2022, Kandi shared that she does want to attain EGOT status.

"My overall dream is that I get the EGOT," she shared. "Meaning I got a Grammy. I need an Emmy, I need an Oscar, I need a Tony. And so it's like [I need to] analyze the Emmy, Oscar, Tony, and figure out what are all the things I can do to qualify me to be recognized for something like that? So I'm working towards those goals. I produced a Broadway show last year [Thoughts of a Colored Man], which I am praying and hoping that they may recognize us for this upcoming Tony season. And I'm still looking at other shows to produce."

"So it's not like I'm stopping there," she added. "I'm gonna continue to put in the work until I get my ultimate goal. But it's like, for me, I'm one of those people. I look at the things people do to give me motivation, [like the] people who have done it. When I go back and look at people who have all four, and I feel like, 'Dang, I've been working at it this long and I only have this one.' Then I go back and look, and it's like, [for] a lot of them it took them 50 years, 60 years to get all of them. So I'm like, OK, well, I guess I'm not too, too far off."
