Andy Cohen made waves at BravoCon 2019 when he announced that The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City was coming to Bravo. The latest installment will be the 10th franchise in the history of The Real Housewives.
"We've always tried to choose cities that have completely unique personalities and we also try to throw a little curveball now and then, pick somewhere that you maybe weren't expecting," Andy explained during his Ask Andy panel. "I think you're going to be really surprised, intrigued, and titillated by the group of women that we have chosen in Salt Lake City for the next Real Housewives."
And as this was definitely an unexpected choice for the franchise, naturally the topic of the upcoming show came up when Senior Vice President of Current Production Noah Samton sat down with The Daily Dish podcast.
"When it was announced at BravoCon, I sort of flipped through Twitter to see how people were reacting and I can tell you that there was sort of an outcry about what people expected it to be and what they thought it was gonna be, and it’s not that," Noah said. "It’s one of the reasons that we moved forward with the show is because it feels unexpected. It feels different than what you would think when you just picture in your head, Real Housewives of Salt Lake City."
As for what we can anticipate from the series, Noah said, "I think it’s gonna be a really fascinating show. You don’t earn that Real Housewives title... you know, we don’t give that out lightly. So, we have a lot of – it’s very early in the process, but we all have a lot of faith that it’s gonna be a great show."
While fans have been trying to guess which prominent Salt Lake City ladies might be appearing on the show, Noah isn't giving any names for now, but said, "They check a lot of boxes that our viewers are looking for. They’re women with interesting families and family relationships and interesting relationships with each other. I think their backgrounds are actually sort of, uh, more interesting than you might normally see. We saw the development tape early on and jaws were dropping over what was, you know, what these women’s lives were like and who they were."
OK, we're officially intrigued. Hear more about the upcoming series and get Noah's perspective on the various Bravo shows he works on in the podcast episode above.
