Julie Montagu Has Some Advice for Fellow Cinderella, Prince Harry's GF Meghan Markle
There's one thing the Suits actress shouldn't do, according to the #LadiesOfLondon aristocrat.
Ever since the news hit that Prince Harry is dating Suits actress Meghan Markle, Americans have been abuzz with delight over the royal romance. We mean, who hasn't fantasized about a prince sweeping them off their feet?
But this real-life Cinderella story doesn't seem to have inspired the same amount of fervor across the pond, according to Ladies of London's Sophie Stanbury and Julie Montagu. "She is big over here," Sophie told The Daily Dish while visiting our offices in New York. "In England, she's not that big."
Sophie and Julie said that's mainly because of legal restrictions in photographing the couple in public in the United Kingdom, as well as the statement released by Kensington Palace in November in an effort to protect Meghan from scrutiny by the press.
However, that doesn't mean Sophie, who actually knows Prince Harry personally, isn't going to gush about the couple. "I think they're great together. I think it's really refreshing. She's gorgeous, a brunette, which is always nice. Why not? Go for it, Harry," Sophie said. "And he's super fun, so he needs a fun girlfriend. I actually see it working out."
Julie agreed. "I do, too. I weirdly see it," she told The Daily Dish. "It's that American, optimistic, gushing enthusiasm. That's what he loves."
And as a Sugar Grove, Illinois native-turned-Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, Julie knows a thing or two about what it's like to grow up the all-American girl and then suddenly be whisked away into a life of British aristocracy. But she recommends that Meghan always stay true to her roots. "It's a bit boring advice, but just be yourself. You don't have to conform to the English ways," Julie said. "No one wants a boring lady. But if she's with Harry, no way are they gonna be boring."
