Mia Thornton Shares an Update on Her Marriage as Her Husband, Gordon, Turns 71 (PICS)
The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member shared a sweet tribute to her “G” and posted brand-new couples pics that couldn’t be cuter.
September is back-to-school season, and in Mia Thornton’s household at least, it’s also Gordon season. Each year, The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member takes to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to her husband on his September 17 birthday. This year was no exception: Mia shared the sweetest message for her “G” on his special day. She also offered a look inside her marriage with a slew of brand-new couples pics.
In the clip above, Mia reveals that love notes are a key element of her romance with Gordon. While showing BravoTV.com around one of her homes, the marketing exec holds up a glass jar filled with folded Post-it notes. “I have a lot of sentimental things. This is one of them,” she explains. “This is considered a date-night jar. And whatever is inside of the little Post-it note is what [Gordon and I] do that week. So that’s how we keep it spicy.” But on Gordon’s birthday, Mia took the love note out of the jar and onto the ’Gram.

In a September 17 post, Mia dropped a carousel of photos featuring her and her longtime love. (She and Gordon have been married since 2012.) The pictures showed the couple kicking back on a lawn, where they seemed to be watching a movie. Mia wore a stretchy red top with matching pants, while Gordon rocked a baseball cap and a casual T-shirt. Both Mia and her husband smiled wide as they cuddled up for their alfresco film.
In the caption, Mia wrote, “Cheers to 71 years around the Sun.” She added a champagne-toast emoji, adding, “Happy Birthday, My G!” Some of Mia’s RHOP castmates hopped into the comments to add their own birthday wishes for “G,” including Gizelle Bryant. “Happy Birthday Daddy G!” the Reasonably Shady co-host wrote. “Happy Birthday G!” echoed Robyn Dixon.
Last year, Gordon turned 70 and got another sweet birthday wish from his wife. For the milestone event, Mia shared two pics of Gordon posing next to a “Happy Birthday” balloon while holding a bottle of tequila. “He makes 70 look so darn good,” the mother of three wrote. She jokingly added, “I don’t post him enough because I want to keep him to myself.” Mia also asked her Instagram followers to get in on the birthday fun. “Take a moment and celebrate this King,” she urged.
