Melissa Gorga Claps Back at Criticism of Her Sunday Sauce Recipe
The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member is standing behind her meatball choice.
Melissa Gorga is defending her meatball method. The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member, who makes a weekly "Sunday Sauce," recently shared her recipe for the Italian-style feast that her family sits down to each week. But when a commenter dared to question her meatball preparation techniques, Melissa fired back.
Keep scrolling to see what she said to the meatball naysayer, and—even more deliciously—to get her recipe for the saucy feast.
Melissa Gorga shares her recipe for a Sunday Sauce
In a January 28 TikTok post, the mother of three showed herself in the kitchen of her New Jersey home. "There's nothing like a Sunday with good music and making Sunday sauce," she said, clad in a black-and-white flannel shirt over a black t-shirt.
The mom of three proceeded to hold up two tin pans filled with meatballs, and then she pointed to her garlic and onions, which she was getting ready to chop.
Not only did Melissa disclose the ingredients of her meal—but she also revealed the music that gets her cooking juices flowing. "This is Lionel Richie radio on Pandora," she said, as music played in the background. "It's my favorite. I listen to it every Sunday morning while I cook."
As Melissa's video went on, she was seen singing along to her favorite jams as she coated a pot with olive oil from a bedazzled bottle, browned some sausage and onions, and put her meatballs into the oven to bake. As Melissa continued to rock out, into the pot went Redpak crushed tomatoes, white wine, fresh basil, salt, and spices.
In the comments, a follower wrote: "Joe's mother would never bake meatballs!!!!!" Melissa begged to differ, noting that Joe Gorga's beloved late mother "always did" just that.

After (proudly) taking her meatballs out of the oven and putting them into the sauce, Melissa showed her husband working on his dish. As he's done in the past, the comedy buff and construction pro prepared his signature Italian peppers. As their wedding song — "My Endless Love" by Lionel Richie—played, Melissa shared a look at the cheese and crackers spread on their kitchen island.
Finally, she showed off the feast, which included meatballs in sauce, big chunks of mozzarella cheese, pasta, red wine, bean salad, and more. "Happy Sunday," she said, toasting Joe.
In the past, Joe has gushed over his late mother's cooking. On her birthday in 2019, two years after she passed away, the New Jersey dad wrote: "Happy Birthday to an amazing person. I miss you so much everyday. God I wish I had your sauce today. I love you."
