Retta Admits She Felt Like a "Deer in Headlights" While Working with Malcolm-Jamal Warner

Barbara (Retta) is back in the dating game this season of Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce. Her love life really started heating up when she ran into her new love interest, Darrell, played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner.

Even though Darrell was a hunky man in Wednesday night's episode of GG2D, Retta couldn't help but see a certain iconic TV character when she looked at Malcolm. "I think anybody who works with Malcolm, the first thing they go, 'Holy cow! I'm working with Theo!' because that was part of my childhood," Retta said of Malcolm's Cosby Show character Theo Huxtable during an interview with The Daily Dish. "And then you finally figure out, you know what, you're supposed to be working, and then you start doing what you need to do, but yeah, there was definitely a deer in headlights for a little bit."

Retta may have been a fan of Malcolm's growing up, but she said she was never crushing on his Cosby Show character. "I didn't have a crush on him because I thought Theo was so goofy," she said. "But I still thought he was cute; I just didn't think he should be my boyfriend — until now." 

GG2D fans will love seeing Barbara get her groove back, according to Retta. "Because Barbara gets a love interest, I think people will be very excited," she said.
