Retta Refuses To Wear This Style Again On 'Girlfriends' Guide To Divorce'

If you've been watching Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce, you know that clothing is one of the main characters. As the ladies' lives change, so do the contents of their closet—and that applies to Barbara (played by Retta) as well as to Abby, Phoebe, and the rest of the gang.

When the show's costume designer, Cynthia Summers, discussed GG2D fashion on a recent panel at Bloomingdales', she admitted that Retta wasn't always terribly interested in clothing.

"Retta's great, she's loving fashion," Cynthia enthused. "At the beginning, I was a little nervous because she [seemed hesitant], but then she just embraced it." As she looks for styles that will help Retta's character shine, Cynthia has discovered new designers. "[Working with] Retta has been such a blessing," she said.

Retta herself recently chatted with us about how Barbara's fashion sense has evolved. (Hint: it becomes a lot brighter in season two!) The actress admitted that her real-life style now meshes with Barbara's more closely. But, there is one thing Barbara wore that Retta's not so sure about.
