Lala Kent Unpacks Exactly How She Chose Her Sperm Donor: "It Just Felt Right"

Lala Kent went a more unconventional route when it came to her journey to expand her family, so it's only fitting that she hosted a "sperm donor party" to have her friends help pick out the donor for baby No. 2.

On Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 12, Lala held an event at Lisa Vanderpump's home, Villa Rosa, to get her nearest and dearest, including castmates Scheana Shay, Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, and Ally Lewber, to look through a booklet of potential donors.

Lala and the aforementioned ladies ultimately did select the donor, and Lala is currently pregnant with her second child.

How Lala Kent chose her sperm donor

After deciding to use Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) to conceive her second baby, Lala enlisted the help of the California Cryobank to give her sperm donor options. She put together a pamphlet featuring the profiles of several of the donors, and she then read through them for the other ladies to then take a vote during her "Who's Your Daddy?" themed party. 

"I am just a couple hours away from choosing my baby daddy," Lala excitedly shared in an interview on Season 11, Episode 12. "I have so many people who are supportive of me, who love my daughter [Ocean Kent Emmett] a lot, and I know who are going to just love on this new baby." 

Before the women officially picked the donor, Lala spoke to them about the importance of the day. 

"This is not how I pictured my life. I'm just beyond grateful that this is an option," she explained. "If there's one thing that I feel like I'm good at in my life, [it's] that I'm a good mama. So, this is very fun, but, obviously, we're picking my baby daddy."

Who is Lala Kent's sperm donor?

Lala and the VPR crew ultimately settled on the first donor in the pamphlet, who was a 6 foot 2 inch guy with a "lean, athletic build" who was described as "kind, polite and friendly, [with] a gentle demeanor."

Scheana was particularly impressed because the donor's favorite song was "Grown Ocean" (a nod to Lala's daughter's name), and because his favorite animal was a lion. 

"We're done here!" Scheana exclaimed, and that proved to be the case. 

When it came time to vote, all of the guests put up happy faces for donor one.

"You guys, I have my freaking donor!" Lala exclaimed. 

"We're doing it, I have my baby daddy," she elaborated in an interview. "Going this route to have a baby is giving me what my heart and soul so badly want[s]. It's very exciting, everything that's happening."

Why Lala Kent chose her sperm donor

During the Vanderpump Rules After Show, Lala explained that when she was looking at the first donor's profile, she gravitated towards him because he was close with his dad, and because she liked the response he put when he was asked what he would want to tell his future kids.

"It just, like, hit me. It just felt right..." she said, noting that the donor's physical attributes also helped. "I didn't want this baby to face anything more than [what] they're already gonna have to face."
