Adela King Reveals How She Learned to Feel "Fulfilled" After Her Past Substance Abuse
"You just don't get sober and everything's amazing and perfect," the #LadiesOfLondon pal said.
Adela King has been a beautiful, bubbly, and brilliant addition to Ladies of London this season. With her looks, charm, and the fact that she's rolling with this smashing crew, you would think that Adela's life would be downright perfect. However, we recently learned that it has been anything but.
In this week's episode, Adela revealed that she is undergoing a custody battle with her ex-husband, and she opened up to her old friend Caroline Stanbury that she may never be able to see her children again. She has also been open about her past experience with substance abuse this season of Ladies of London.
Adela has been sober for nearly two years now, and she said she has learned how to be "fulfilled" in other ways. "I know who I am. I understand that trying to fill that hole with anything else, with material things or with men or with alcohol or with substance abuse is just gonna make things worse," she said. "You just don't get sober and everything's amazing and perfect. No. You've got so much sh** to clear up from the mess and the bad choices you made when you're unwell. I made some really bad choices, and I'm still paying for that today. But it's my journey, and today, I can put my head on my pillow at night with humility, not humiliation."
Adela said she is grateful that she has lots of love and support from her family and friends to get through these challenging times. She has also been keeping busy with the recent launch of her line of thigh-high boots.
