Kristen Taekman Catches the Businesswoman Bug

Kristen Taekman is always on point when it comes to her style. So now she's spinning that love for beauty into a business. The Real Housewives of New York star is ready to share with the world her Pop of Color nail polish line, which debuts in Ricky's stores next month.

And now that her brand is about to hit the retailer, she already has her sights set on her next venture. "I think so! I would love to branch out into other things, like lip gloss," she teases. "With Pop of Color, it's endless right?"

For now, though, she's focused on the nail polish line.

"This is really exciting for me because I love beauty, I love makeup, and I've always loved nail polish," she tells Popsugar about the brand. "I really am that girl who would get a full manicure on a Monday and then have a polish change on a Thursday. Now, my daughter, who is 3, is just as obsessed as I am—she's getting manicures right alongside me.

In fact, the brand has a personal angle—found right in the names of the colors featured in the line.

"There are a lot of hashtags I like to use on social media and stuff that I like to say—like 'blue moon' for an Elvis song and 'pajamas' since I'm almost always in pajamas taking a selfie for some reason," she says. "Cry Baby is my favorite color... I got the samples, came home, started unpacking them, and my son walks into the room. I was like, 'I named the green one after you—'Cash Money!'' Then of course my daughter comes in and goes, 'Well, what color did you name after me?' I was really quick to go, 'This one—'Cry Baby!''"

First, however, there are a few housewives who might want to pop out and purchase some Pop of Color. So who does she think might want to hit the salon? "I'm going to go with Carole or Dorinda, the new girl," she said. "Actually, I should first and foremost say Heather because she's always so busy! She's always like, 'Don't look at my nails. I need a manicure.'"
