Katie Maloney briefly addressed the romance that's currently unfolding between Tom Schwartz and Katie Flood on Winter House Season 3 at BravoCon 2023, but she spoke more in-depth about her feelings on the matter during a recent podcast appearance.
The Vanderpump Rules cast member, more specifically, weighed in on Schwartz's inability to call Katie Flood by her first name. She also shared what it was like to meet the fellow Katie at BravoCon and revealed her hopes for Schwartz's future dating endeavors. Read on for details.
Katie Maloney Weighs in on Tom Schwartz's Name Issue with Katie Flood
Giving Kaitlyn Bristowe a rundown of Tom's issue with Katie Flood on the Dec. 12 episode of the Off the Vine podcast, Katie explained, "He had a problem just, like, having a thing with her. It was just so bizarre."
She found the situation particularly odd considering "he never called me Katie and I never called him Tom."
As fans may recall, the exes famously referred to each other as "bub" and "bubba."
In fact, Tom still uses the moniker for Katie. "For a while I told him, I'm like, 'You can't do that,' because it just felt like it was something too synonymous with our whole relationship, but I think it's just too much of a habit for him to not," Katie said. "Like it's just it's a reflex almost."
After all, the two were together for nearly 12 years. That's why, as Katie explained, she took enjoyment in "roast[ing]" Tom about his Winter House hangup.
"We like to roast each other a little bit, you know? And so I did give him a little sh-t about the name thing," Katie said. "I was like, 'Well, I'm Katie number one,' because there was a joke about Tom number one and Tom number two. I'm like, 'Well, does this mean that there's a Katie number one and a Katie number two now?' I joked about that but I was never like, 'How dare you,' or mad."
Katie Maloney's Thoughts on Katie Flood
Because Katie wasn't upset by the situation, she didn't have any issues meeting Katie Flood in November when she came face to face with the Below Deck Mediterranean yachtie. As she put it, "I met her at BravoCon briefly, like when we first got there. And she's, you know, beautiful. And she works on a yacht."
Would Katie Maloney ever date another Tom?
Tom may have struggled to date another Katie, but would Katie face a similar issue if she found herself attracted to a different Tom? She answered this exact question during the podcast.
Her response? "That's such a common name, so to say no, I'm really eliminating a lot of the population."
Katie Maloney's Hopes for Tom Schwartz's Love Life and Future
Katie and Tom's split has been anything but smooth sailing, however, she said she ultimately wants him to "find happiness."
"I want him to be happy," she added. "I want him to date and to move on or find [someone], whether it's serious or casual, whatever."
"He seems to say over and over that he's not interested in that and he doesn't want that, and so if he really doesn't, then that's fine," Katie continued. "But if I don't want it to be because of me or anything like that, or because a name. It's so silly."
On that note, Kaitlyn asked Katie if she thinks Tom still has feelings for her. "I don't know. I mean, that's what my friends seem to think and other people seem to think, but I don't know, maybe," she said. "We did spend years and years together, so to say, like, 'Oh yeah, he feels nothing...'"
Regardless, Katie said she's for sure "rooting" for her ex.
