Who Is Kathryn Dennis' Boyfriend Joseph Abruzzo? The Former Politician Has Been in the News
Get to know the man the Southern Charm fashionista can't stop gushing about.
Kathryn Dennis has started a new chapter this season of Southern Charm, including a swanky new home in downtown Charleston and an expanded role at Gwynn's. And, as we saw in Wednesday night's episode, she can't help but gush about another change in her life: her new man.
Kathryn revealed during a lunch out with Naomie Olindo that she has a new special someone in her life, a man named Joseph Abruzzo who she met at a Miami Dolphins game. "We talked, we hung out," Kathryn said of her meet-cute with Joe, 38, with the biggest smile on her face. You can watch her gush more about him in the above clip.
Before Kathryn met Joe, he was a politician in Florida. He served as a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives from 2008 to 2012, and then again from 2016 to 2018. He also served as a member of the Florida Senate from 2012 to 2016.
Joe did not seek re-election to the Florida House of Representatives in 2018 while he went through a very public divorce with his wife, whom he married in 2015. He told the Sun Sentinel in February 2018 that he decided not to run again so he could be there for his young son, Joseph Abruzzo II. “There is no way I am giving up more than one day with him more than I have to,” Joe told the Sun Sentinel. “Custody time with my son is the absolute primary reason.”
Craig Conover and Chelsea Meissner expressed their concern for Kathryn and her new relationship as they discussed some of the news that Joe has been in the press for in recent years, including some private photos that were posted online and some divorce drama.
But Kathryn is aware of everything that has gone on in Joe's past (it's all "Googleable," as she said on Southern Charm), and she still cares for him a lot. She even said that he's the first person she's felt a connection with in a long time. "I really like him a lot," Kathryn told Naomie before listing what she finds attractive about Joe. "He's kind, he's got a 3-and-a-half-year-old-son, and he wears sunless tanner like me."
Since leaving politics, Joe has gone on to work as the Director of Government Relations for a law firm in Florida, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Kathryn has also moved on from Joe since this season of Southern Charm was filmed. She went public with her relationship with country singer Hunter Price at the beginning of this year.
