Josh Altman Is Approaching Fatherhood Like It's a Video Game
The #MDLLA agent shares how he and Heather are prepping to become parents.
2016 was a year of milestones for Josh Altman and Heather Bilyeu Altman. In addition to marrying back in April, the couple also confirmed in September that they are expecting a daughter in 2017. Josh is settling into fatherhood rather easily, and it might be because he's been wanting to become a dad for a while now.
"We want kids. We wanted kids. I, especially, because I'm not getting any younger these days, so I was ready right away," he told The Daily Dish. "I've been ready for years. Was I surprised how quick it happened? Absolutely. We have many friends where it took a very long time for them to get pregnant. We know how lucky we are it happened that easy 'cause it can go either way. It was definitely a surprise, but we're excited. In fact, we're so excited, we're already talking about having another right after."
The Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles agent shared that his wife is about five months along, and right now their life is about shopping trips — and not just for the baby. "Right now it's a very, very exciting time to be going through with my wife and I," he said. "First trimester was uncomfortable, now she's cool. It's so funny, everybody's like, 'You're the smallest pregnant woman ever.' When she lays down, you can barely recognize she's pregnant. It's crazy. And just to watch the body change, she's taken it very good. The most frustrating thing for her, she's a fashionista [and] she loves clothes and she can't fit into a lot of the clothes and she doesn't know what to do. So we're constantly looking for different clothes."
Josh has even found a way to make doctor's appointments more fun. "It's just the whole experience is something that everybody should go through. And every couple weeks she gets bigger and bigger the doctor appointments are a lot of fun for me," he said. "My doctor has actually allowed me to do the ultrasound myself 'cause I feel like it's a video game: find the baby."
The baby may still be months away from coming into the world, but she's already loved by her parents — and grandparents. "Both of our families are so involved and they're so excited that when we do have the little girl, I have no doubt that there's going to be many helpers around the house 'cause my parents are dying to come in [from Aspen] and hang out and so is her family. So that'll be fun," he said, adding that this is the first grandchild for his parents. "They've been bugging us for about a decade now, and the pressure's off my brother, Matt, and they should be happy for a little while."
