Jacqueline Laurita Says Teresa Giudice Could've Avoided Her Family's Christening Drama
"Fake it 'til you make it," the #RHONJ mom advised Teresa about resolving her issues with Melissa and Joe.
Who could forget Joey Gorga's Christening during the Season 3 premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey? The tension between Teresa Giudice, her brother Joe Gorga, and her sister-in-law Melissa Gorga erupted into some major family drama.
But it didn't have to go down that way, according to Jacqueline Laurita, who advised Teresa to patch things up with her sister-in-law before she joined the cast of RHONJ that season. "When [Melissa] was coming on the show, I said, 'You should call and make it good before she gets on the show so you guys aren't fighting before [filming starts],'" Jacqueline said during a recent interview on SiriusXM's Wake Up with Taylor. "She refused to call ahead of time."
Jacqueline said that Teresa's decision to not resolve her issues with her brother and sister-in-law and then act like there was no bad blood between them was the last straw for Joe. "So she went on-camera at the Christening trying to act like everything was great. 'How ya doing?'" Jacqueline explained. "And that's why her brother snapped, because he's like, 'Really? You've been treating us like crap, and now you want to come on and pretend like it's all good?'"
However, Jacqueline said that Teresa should have made nice with Melissa and Joe before the season began, even if she didn't really want to. "I told her, 'Call [Joe]. Call him beforehand.' She did not take my advice," Jacqueline said. "'I'm like, 'Fake it 'til you make it.' If you don't want the headache of her fighting during filming, then do that."
Jacqueline said she is not in a good place with Melissa these days, either — or rather, she is "nowhere" and "disappointed" with her RHONJ castmate. "She wants to rewrite history," Jacqueline said on Wake Up with Taylor. "She was just very disappointing to me."
When asked if she thought Melissa was now blaming her for the problems with Teresa, Jacqueline didn't rule out that possibility. "I don't know. Maybe. I'm not really sure," she said before adding that it "would be stupid because everyone knows they didn't get along long before I came around. Long before. And I always tried to make them work it out."
As for the longtime conflict between Jacqueline and Teresa, the RHONJ moms seem to be in a good place these days, but have they really moved past all of their drama? Find out when RHONJ returns with a new episode on Sunday, August 14 at 8/7c.
