Jackie Goldschneider has shared lots about her family in her time as a cast member on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, including opening up about her estranged sister in Season 9. The Garden State mom shared an update on the relationship on the May 8 episode of The Daily Dish podcast, which you can listen to, below.

“My relationship with my sister is… I don’t even want to call it strained because I’ve never even known her as a sister. It’s very strange to me to even refer to her as my sister, ‘cause she’s just another woman who shares the same parents as me,” said Jackie. “I’ve never, ever, ever had a relationship with her. And I thought that when we got to be adults that would change and our children would soften that divide. But it just never happened.”

Jackie went on to explain that her experience with RHONJ gave her the unique chance to try to reach out to her sister.

“The show gave me the opportunity, again, to have an excuse to try again to form a relationship with her. And really, for a few minutes she was into it. We actually did have that conversation in the driveway. Bravo heard it on their end, but she would not allow it to be on the air. I really hoped that would lead to something more. But it’s just a recurring pattern with us. If we make up for five minutes, all of a sudden something will happen that really usually has nothing to do with me, that she’s angry at me again for something,” said Jackie. “My parents gave me more attention, or more time, or more money or something. They gave me a present, and she gets angry about it. I don’t know, and I can’t control it. So I’ve really stopped.”

During the Season 9 The Real Housewives of New Jersey After Show (clip above), Jackie provided more insight into the relationship, including the circumstances that led to the divide in the first place.

“We never got along. There wasn’t one thing that happened. We just never connected as sisters. We had no real relationship, ever. As children, we always had to be together, but as soon as we reached adulthood, we really just didn’t want anything to do with each other. Every time we were together, we just didn’t get along, and at a certain point, it became too negative and we just decided that our lives were happier without each other in it,” said Jackie. “I rode that for a long time until, I don’t know, I feel like as you reach 40, you realize that not everything is black and white, and you can go back and mend fences. I saw how hard its as for my parents to never have all their grandkids together in one place, and I saw my own children and thinking about one day them potentially not speaking to each other, and all of it was just on my mind for a few years.”

At the time of the Season 9 After Show, Jackie mentioned that she and her sister “got together” a few times over the summer. However, that seemed to change over time. During a “Housewife to Housewife” panel at BravoCon in November 2019, Jackie said the relationship between the two was “not so good.” “We took a few steps forward last year, and then, you know, a few steps backward," she said. "But you know, there’s still time. So we’ll keep trying.”
