Tom Schwartz Shares What's *Really* Going on at Schwartz and Sandy's: "It Got Dark There for a While"
"We're courageously forging ahead," the Vanderpump Rules cast member said in an exclusive interview.
Tom Schwartz is excited about a new chapter at Schwartz and Sandy's.
As Vanderpump Rules viewers saw in Season 11, Episode 2, Schwartz was frustrated about the state of the bar in the aftermath of the show's Season 10 drama involving his business partner, Tom Sandoval.
"We really got it bad. We all had to clean up Tom [Sandoval's] mess," Schwartz told Lisa Vanderpump during the February 6 episode. "We did ask Sandoval to step away from Schwartz and Sandy's ... However I didn't expect him to just fully check out."
More recently, amid online rumors that Schwartz & Sandy's could be closing, Schwartz told The Daily Dish what's really going on at the bar today.

Although Schwartz admitted in the February 20 interview, "We were on life support for a while there," he explained, "I try to keep it positive, you know? I don't want to dwell on some not-so-pleasant moments at the bar."
Despite the challenges, Schwartz is optimistic about the future of the Franklin Village bar. "I think we're in the midst of a bit of rebirth or a resurgence," he said. "We have a newfound sense of camaraderie there. Me and my partners, Tom, Greg, we have momentum again. We're communicating clearly. I just feel like the vibes are different in there."
They also recently made an exciting change to the space. "We just installed a new sound system, and it wasn't cheap," he shared. "We're going to implement the music program we always talked about implementing. We want the music to be just as important a component as the food, and the drinks, and the customer service. So I'm really excited about that."
While Tom noted, "That place almost broke me, literally, figuratively. Every way, shape or form," he explained it also made him "a better person."
"Maybe I was a little too soft before I opened the bar," he said. "It made me grow up real fast. [It's] not for the faint of heart." Although "it got dark there for a while" at Schwartz & Sandy's, Tom declared, "We're courageously forging ahead."
