Amid Her IVF Journey, Candiace Dillard Bassett Explains How Her Stepkids Reacted to the News
The RHOP cast member opened up about her relationship with Chris Bassett’s kids from a previous relationship.
Candiace Dillard Bassett isn’t just busy celebrating her academic achievements, growing her acting résumé, and marking milestones in her music career, among other roles. She’s also on a journey to motherhood, previously sharing that she froze her eggs. And with her taking proactive steps to motherhood, as you might imagine, she has a full plan for how she envisions her family looking.
Candiace Reveals How Many Kids She Would Like to Have
“I’m gonna try one and see how I like it and then we’ll try for more,” she joked in a fan Q&A with Bravo back in November. “But no, seriously, I would love to just have two. I would love a boy and a girl, and that will complete our family,” she said, noting that she’s already a stepmom to Chris’ kids from his previous relationships. “So that’s a lot of kids.”
An Update on Her IVF Journey
In the same fan Q&A, Candiace noted that The Real Housewives of Potomac fans are getting an inside look at the couple’s “IVF journey,” sharing, “You will see us sort of go through every phase of IVF on the show,” she told Bravo fans during the candid chat. “So I don’t wanna spoil it, but it was a very intense journey and I’m grateful that I was able to get through it.”
How Her Stepkids Feel About Her Baby Plans
As for how her stepchildren have reacted to the news that she and Chris are trying to expand their family, she noted that his daughter “was like, ‘No, I don’t want any more.’ Then I was like, ‘OK, well, you know, that’s good to know, but maybe it might be cool if we had one or two. I think we could make it work, right?’ And she was like, ‘Well, maybe I’ll think about it…’ I remember being that way when I was an only child. She’s the youngest, so I get it from being the youngest, from that perspective.”
As for her one stepson, she noted, “He’s a boy. So he’s like, ‘Yeah, cool. Whatever.’”
What’s Next for Candiace
Candiace recently turned 36, and she noted in a birthday post on Instagram: “God is GREAT. And THIS is 36. I am in awe of God. He has done a great many things in me in 36 years. All I can say is wow! All I can do is be grateful. So eternally grateful. I am not worthy. But He keeps blessing me.”
