Here’s How Wendy Osefo Became a Cast Member on The Real Housewives of Potomac
The RHOP newbie explains the connection she had to the group before joining the cast.
Professor, philanthropist, and political commentator Wendy Osefo has added another title to her majorly-impressive resume: The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member.
In an interview with The Washington Post, the RHOP newbie opened up about how she became a cast member and which ‘Wife she’s closest with.
“I know some of the ladies. We run in similar social circles, and I sit on some of the same nonprofit boards,” Wendy explained when asked how the opportunity came about. “Since that was the case, it was a very organic relationship, and I was approached to do the show.”
Although joining the cast felt like a natural fit, Wendy did have some hesitations.
“At first, I was like, I’m not sure if I want to do this because it’s so different from what I’m known for. But then I realized at the end of the day, my brand is rooted in authenticity and being authentic whether I’m being a professor or a political commentator, and who I am is what you get. I’m a straight shooter” said Wendy. “After talking with my family, they were like, go for it! And I said to myself, you only live once. I don’t want to be 90 years old looking back on my life wondering what if I hadn’t taken this opportunity.”
Wendy also revealed which cast member she is closest to, even before filming began. “Out of the whole cast at the start of filming, definitely Candiace. She and I were close,” explained Wendy. “Ironically, for Season 4, last season, Candiace invited me to the premiere party...I was there, heavily pregnant, supporting my friend, so we’ve been close.”
