Exclusive: Alexis Bellino Dishes on Her 'General Hospital' Role
The O.C. Housewife will be bringing the drama to daytime.
Art imitating life? After swimming in the Jillian Barberie pond over at Fox 5, Alexis Bellino is wearing her shiny anchor tiara once again.
"General Hospital contacted me and I was very excited to venture out of Orange County into Port Charles to accept this new opportunity!" the Real Housewives of Orange County bombshell tells The Dish about making her soap opera debut on May 9. "All I can say is I am the Port Charles News Anchor, and I'm delivering some breaking news that America will be shocked to hear!" See, those talent coach lessons came in handy.
Rubbing elbows with the Spencers and Cassadines marks Alexis' first dance with acting professionally – aside from high school performances and a small role in college – but despite her real-life newsroom experience, Lex admits, "I'm not going to lie, I was nervous. But I was more excited than anything else. They were all so kind (hmmm interesting concept), and so good-looking!"
Does that mean she's ready to share lines with the pretty people again? "I heard a rumor that I will be back soon!" hints the Alexis Couture and Alexis by Tal Sheyn designer (psst: get free shipping on her pieces for Mother's Day!). "I would absolutely continue pursuing acting. I feel that if I'm given an opportunity, and I am excited about it, then why not? Why risk looking back at my life saying ‘I wish I had...'"
So then here's the million dollar question: Will an acting career segue into exploring the music industry? "No, I can't even carry a tune in the shower!" the Supermom – who still volunteers at her kids' school two times a week -- jokes. "I like to sing, but I break glass with my vocals. My kids think I have a beautiful voice, and that is all that matters....but we will see how many more years they think that!"
