Drew shared during the episode that Josiah's biological father had been reaching out to her because he wanted to have a relationship with their son. She explained that Josiah's biological father had gone to prison before their son was even born, and although they have met on a couple of occasions, they haven't really formed a relationship.

"You are the only dad he knows. It's like, he's good. He doesn't need anybody else. So in my mind, I want to keep it like that, but it's just not the reality," an emotional Drew told her husband, Ralph Pittman, in the episode. "I knew this day was gonna come; it just feels like it came so fast."

As someone who didn't have the strongest relationship with his father while growing up, Ralph told Drew how much it could mean to Josiah to start to form that bond with his biological dad. "I just don't want JoJo to ever grow up and say, 'You stopped me from having a relationship with my dad,'" Ralph told his wife. "And so, yeah, I understand how he feels right now, but I want to make sure that we don't stand in the way [of] that relationship actually blossoming and actually being able to establish something and create that real, true father-son bond."

Drew and Ralph then went to speak with Josiah about the possibility of reconnecting with his biological father, which he didn't seem interested in. "Well, JoJo, you have people around you that love you so much, and you have not one but two men in your life that you can call Daddy," Drew told her son. "So, that is a blessing to have somebody that wants to be in your life."

Ralph also shared with Josiah why it would be a good idea for him to consider getting to know his biological father. "It's gonna be fun, and it's gonna be exciting. And this is important, because I want you to know where you came from as well. I didn't have my dad that was around all the time, but I valued him, and I love him," Ralph said. "And I'm my dad. A lot of the things that is of me, [it] came from my dad. And so, I want you to know exactly the things that you do also because you're your dad as well."

Josiah ultimately said that he would maybe consider speaking with his biological father in the future. "I will take a maybe," Drew said in an interview during the episode. "I feel like for his age, a 9-year-old, it is a lot to comprehend. And I don't want to force it. I want Josiah to make this decision for himself."

Drew reflected more on her and Ralph's talk with Josiah in a post on Instagram following the RHOA episode. "Some conversations are harder than others. I am so proud of my first born Josiah; he’s turned out to be so smart, mature and warm. I will do my best to make sure JoJo continues to receive the maximum amount of love," Drew wrote in a photo that featured Josiah with his younger siblings, Machai, 5, and Aniya, 3. "Every blended family experience is unique and different. Shout out to all the the parents and kids out there. We are in this together."

Ralph also opened up about how much he has cherished becoming a stepdad to Josiah after he and Drew got married in 2014. "I met my wife as a single mother. At the time, JoJo was 3yrs old and unfortunately his father wasn’t around. When I married Drew, I knew I was also marrying JoJo and made a commitment to also become his dad," Ralph shared. "JoJo is blessed because he has 2 [dads]. As a child, it’s hard to understand biological vs. step and the role of a father and dad. It’s my job to teach JoJo to be open so he has the opportunity to discover more about his origin and ultimately himself. I know he will appreciate it later!!"

The RHOA husband's post featured photos of himself, Drew, and Josiah on his wedding day six years ago. Ralph concluded his message, noting, "Also, the greatest gift to a man is fatherhood and I will never take that opportunity away."
