According to the Daily News, police say that the suspect would case homes during open houses and them return to bulgarize residences. He stole upwards of more than 2,000 items including fine art, diamond jewelry, watches, handbags and more. The items were found at his home and storage unit after a search warrant was issued.

Detective Jared Timmons shared, “A lot of stuff still has to be verified...We have diamond necklaces. We have to see what type of diamonds they are. Whose they are and what the actual values are.”

According to authorities, the suspect would pose as an interested buyer or a real estate broker. “People didn’t challenge him when walked into their houses," Timmons explained. "They believed that he was a buyer. When he showed up, he was dressed to the nines. He acted the part. He was very slick."

According to E! News, Timmons noted that the value of the items he stole could be worth "multiple millions of dollars."

LAPD Captain Cory Palka noted, "With the assistance of LAPD's commercial crimes unit, Hollywood detectives were able to identify 13 separate burglary victims based on evidence recovered from the locker or storage unit and Ackerman's residence. We believe there may be additional victims based on the large volume of stolen property that was recovered and are asking the public's help in identifying additional victims, and most importantly returning their property to them. A website has been created that will allow the community to check and see if any of the stolen property we have recovered belongs to them."

Authorities are investigating if he had any possible accomplices. According to jail records, Ackerman was arrested and has since released on bail. Charges have yet to be announced by the Los Angeles County District Attorney.
