Why Courtney Veale Got *Two* Apologies at the Below Deck Med Reunion
See which Below Deck Mediterranean crew members the lead deckhand reconciled with during the Season 7 reunion.
Courtney Veale was on the receiving end of not one but two big apologies on the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 7 reunion.
Up first? Reid Jenkins, who expressed his regret over telling Courtney she had “an undiagnosed case of narcissism” earlier this season. “What it was was a joke, and I realize it landed wrong,” he said after host Andy Cohen brought up the incident. “I still am sorry. There really has not been a day that has gone by that I don’t think about it.”
“And it is not what I think of you,” Reid continued. “I think you’re beautiful, fantastic, and sure of yourself, and I’m sorry that came across that way.”
Courtney, for her part, was very forgiving. “I love you, Reid,” the lead deckhand responded. “I think you’re a great guy. I just think maybe that joke obviously was a bit too much. Maybe with somebody else who is totally sure of themselves, maybe it would’ve gone down as a joke. Unfortunately for you, I think it triggered something, and then obviously it was almost like a downward spiral. It was just a hard episode to watch.”
Storm Smith also found himself apologizing not just to Courtney but to Mzi “Zee” Dempers as well. As Below Deck Mediterranean fans may recall, Storm announced his decision that Courtney would be lead deckhand on a crew night out when he’d been drinking — a move some deemed unprofessional. As Captain Sandy Yawn put it, “It’s hard for yacht crew because they go out — they work hard together, and they party hard together — and there’s this line, but I would prefer that it would happen on board.”
“I apologize for doing it on a night out,” Storm said. “I thought that either of them wouldn’t have had a huge issue about it, but unfortunately, I made a mistake and I apologize.”
Courtney, meanwhile, said she had never “judge[d]” Storm for revealing his decision the way he did. “I think he was honestly really nervous to do it,” she said. “He was scared about how either of us were going to react, and I think he wanted to make it more like a casual situation.”
Zee was equally forgiving, explaining that Storm’s decision “hasn’t affected” their friendship at all. “I think for him it must’ve been a really difficult decision to make, but either way, super, super stoked to see Courtney progress,” Zee said. “Maybe it just wasn’t my time then. I think she did great.”
