Captain Sandy Explains What Happens When a Charter Guest Leaves the Yacht Right Before Departure
The Below Deck Med crew recently found themselves in a pretty nerve-racking situation.
Most of the time, the Below Deck yacht is out cruising on the high seas to give charter guests the luxury vacation of a lifetime. But once in a while, the boat is stuck at the dock when weather just doesn't permit it to set sail.
That was the case for the start of the third charter of Season 5 of Below Deck Mediterranean, which was featured in the June 29 episode. But things were looking up on the morning of the second day of the charter when Captain Sandy Yawn prepared to take The Wellington out to sea.
Unfortunately, third stew Jessica More didn't seem to get the memo that the yacht was about to depart, and she told a charter guest that she could take a walk on the dock. Thankfully, the crew saw the charter guest walking down the dock before The Wellington left.
But what if no one had noticed the charter guest was gone, and the yacht had left the dock? Well, that would never have happened, according to Captain Sandy. "Got some [questions] about the charter guest that left the yacht for a run," she tweeted on June 30. "We always do a head count before we leave the dock. [Haven't] left anyone behind."
The charter guest made it back to the boat safely, and this just ended up being a "whoopsie," as Jessica said during the episode. However, The Wellington lost its window of opportunity due to the delay. The wind started picking up, making it so the yacht couldn't leave the dock, after all.
We'll have to wait and see how the rest of this charter fares in the next episode of Below Deck Med, but judging from the below preview, staying at the dock seems to be the least of the crew's worries.
