The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member is “smitten” with the newest inhabitant of her Arlington, Virginia, home.
Ashley Darby’s family is growing, and it’s getting cuter by the second. The Real Housewives of Potomac mama, who’s living in her Arlington, Virginia, dream house with her sons, Dean, 4, and Dylan, 2, introduced her new family member in an Instagram Story that has us purring.
Ashley Darby’s Adorable New Kitten
In the post from August 10, the former Miss D.C. shared a peek at her son in a moment of pure kitten-fueled bliss. Holding a teeny striped cat, Dean opened his mouth in a surprised and delighted smile. Ashley’s caption summed up the moment: “My boys are smitten with the kitten,” she proclaimed.
Though the kitty and the little boy definitely stole the show, the photo also shared a peek at Ashley’s chic home decor. With light spilling through its many windows, her living room has a white fireplace and blue walls. The fireplace is flanked by built-in shelves, also white, and the room has neutral accents including a jute rug.
Ashley spruced up the room even more by decorating the fireplace mantel with gold candleholders and adding natural objects such as seashells and geodes to her bookshelves. Ashley has said that her new house felt like home the moment she first walked through the door, and it’s clearly getting homier by the second.

Ashley Darby’s Relationship with Her Mom
Kitten Darby isn’t the only warm-and-fuzzy thing happening in Ashley’s family. Though the yoga buff has at times had ups and downs in her relationship with her mother, Sheila Matthews, she recently shared a heartwarming update.
To celebrate Sheila’s summer birthday, Ashley posted the sweetest tribute on social media. “July 1 was a day this earth was blessed with a true angel!” she wrote, referring to her mama.
Ashely’s post continued: “We had a great time celebrating my mom, and hopefully showing her a modicum of the love she shows everyone else! A huge thank you to our wonderful family and framily [friends who are family] who turned all the way up with us! We love you so much! And happy birthday, my beautiful queen!!”
