Ariana Madix Talks Money and Reveals Her "First" Big Splurge: “Not Exactly The Wisest”
The Vanderpump Rules cast member revealed the expensive item that she will never buy again and also chats about her recent home purchase.
Ariana Madix's sense of style has evolved since she joined the cast of Vanderpump Rules in Season 2. She isn't afraid to put her own twist on classic styles and take risks with her fashion choices. But there are some fashion decisions that she will never make again. In a new interview with Fashionista, Ariana opened up about her first fashion splurge, which is a far cry from her most recent pricey purchase in the form of the home she recently purchased.
Does Ariana Madix buy a lot of expensive items?
Ariana opened up to Fashionista about her first two designer purchases. "My first [big splurge] — and honestly, I'm still not a big splurger — there were two things: There was a pair of Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and a little Gucci bag," she said.
Looking back, Ariana said she realizes this might not have been the best decision. "But, I realized over time that spending money on shoes is not exactly the wisest thing to do, because you wear them. So I've stopped doing that."
And these days, Ariana isn't making any major fashion splurges — just ones focused on her life. "My biggest recent splurge was a house," she told Fashionista. "I have not been shopping. I'm very behind. I think I've gotten to a point where I'm like, 'Do I really need this?'"

How Ariana Madix's style has changed since moving to L.A.
A lot has changed since Ariana made that first fashion splurge — including her sense of style, which changed from when she moved from New York to the West Coast in the mid 2000's. "2010 is when I moved to L.A., so I was coming out of my indie sleaze era — a lot of boots, short shorts with a flannel tied over it, messy hair, and a lot of eyeliner," Ariana told Fashionista. "That was my vibe."
"When I came out here, it felt like my vibe was not matching my surroundings. So, very slowly, I started to open up into more color, florals, things that feel a little bit more Los Angeles," she added. "I definitely feel like I went through a phase where I went so far in that direction that I wasn't myself anymore. Now, in my late thirties, I'm finally finding the groove of what actually feels like me."
Now that Ariana is headed back to New York in August for another run as Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical, Chicago, there is a chance for her style to change even more. But, it seems the flannel and short short era, as seen in the throwback photo above, is a thing of the past.
