Are Rebecca Minkoff and Crystal Kung Minkoff's Husband, Rob Minkoff, Related?
Rebecca Minkoff has been "in touch" with RHOBH alum Crystal Kung Minkoff.
Rebecca Minkoff may be new to Housewives, but she already shares a major connection to an alum from a different city.
The fashion designer, who is joining the cast of The Real Housewives of New York City for Season 15 as a friend, just found out that she's related to Crystal Kung Minkoff's husband, Rob Minkoff.
During the RHONY Orchard event in New York City on September 20, Rebecca exclusively told The Daily Dish that she is, in fact distantly related to The Lion King director.
"I know someone reported that we are not related, but I am related through [Crystal's] husband, Rob Minkoff, the director," Rebecca explained after sharing that she's been in touch with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum ahead of her RHONY debut.
As for how she found out that she's related to Rob, Rebecca said, "I did 23andMe and they told me. That’s about as far as I got. So, she reached out."
Which Housewives is Rebecca Minkoff friends with?
Aside from Crystal and her RHONY Season 15 castmates — which include Erin Lichy, Ubah Hassan, Sai De Silva, Jenna Lyons, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, and fellow newbie Racquel Chevremont — Rebecca knows a few other familiar faces from the Housewives universe. "I’m friends with Bozoma [Saint John] from [The Real Housewives of] Beverly Hills, but I’ve been friends with her forever. And then, I met Lisa Barlow during Fashion Week and I was like, 'Tell me everything, you’re a legend.'"
Rebecca then recounted the advice that she got from The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City cast member.
"She was just like, 'You know what, stay strong, this can be an incredible platform for change and positivity and don’t forget that,'" Rebecca shared.
What to expect from Rebecca Minkoff on RHONY Season 15
The Season 15 friend is known for the accessible luxury fashion brand she created in 2005. In addition to her company, Rebecca is a best-selling author of Fearless: The New Rules for Unlocking Creativity, Courage, and Success, and she's the co-founder of the Female Founder Collective.
She's also a wife and mom. Rebecca married actor and director Gavin Bellour in 2009, and the pair has since welcomed four children together: Luca, Bowie, Nico, and Leonardo.
Per the official press release for RHONY Season 15, "Things can change in a New York minute when rumors start spreading amongst the ladies. Only time will tell if longstanding loyalties are strong enough to weather the storm as secrets change things up."
