It's official! Southern Charm's Eliza Limehouse and her boyfriend of just under a year, Mark "Struthers" McBride, are now engaged, and she has the stunning engagement ring to prove it. The Charleston-based couple opened up about their romantic proposal to PEOPLE and each detail is more adorable than the last.
According to the interview, McBride proposed in the bathroom as Eliza was brushing her teeth, but he followed it up this month with a ring he helped designed himself. “I have a fine jewelry line, so he went through my manufacturer to make this really cool funky ring that no one else would have,” Eliza detailed in the interview.
The rose gold-set engagement ring features a marquee diamond with a surrounding halo of diamonds. “It’s absolutely gorgeous. He did an amazing job," she added. Click here to see photos of the gorgeous ring.
The ring even included a hidden detail just for Eliza. “I always love, when I make pieces for myself, to have a little hidden stone behind the pendant or under the ring that no one else knows about, so he and the manufacturer worked together to add that,” Eliza explained. “It’s this little diamond, that only I can see. And his birthstone is a diamond, so I told him, ‘When we have children one day, we can put their birthstones on either side of it.’ It’s so special.”
The 24-year-old Southern Charm-er gushed over her first date with the 29-year-old car detail business owner. "From the moment Struthers and I stared dating, I knew he was the man I was going to marry," she revealed to PEOPLE. "I’m not kidding you when I tell you, there were fireworks going off! And every moment since then, I’ve just fallen more and more in love with him.”
Fans who remember Eliza's relationship with then-boyfriend Don Cappodano during last season may be shocked to find out that she has a new fiancé, but according to the Bravo newcomer, the two have known each other longer than you might think. "We’ve known each other since we were kids," she explained in the interview. "And we’ve always crushed on one another, but neither of us were ever single at the same time....The timing was never right.”
