We Have an Exciting Update on Austen and Craig’s Restaurant Venture

Austen Kroll just shared a major update on his exciting new venture with his Southern Charm castmate Craig Conover.
In a March 23 Instagram Story, Austen confirmed the opening date of Carriage House, their long-awaited restaurant in NYC’s West Village. “Y’all it’s happening. My long-anticipated opening of my first foray into the restaurant business,” he wrote. “[Carriage House NYC] is opening its doors next week, 3/29! See you there!”
Craig and Austen announced the Carriage House venture in August of last year, saying they had their eyes set on a fall 2022 grand opening. The restaurant will be spearheaded by chef/owner Chris Maier, owner/operator Philip Testa, and restaurateur/TV personality Jordan Andino.
According to Gotham Magazine, Carriage House will offer elevated childhood classics, such as “Peanut Butter and Jelly, Duck TV Dinner, and Tuna ‘Casserole,’” all of which will be reworked with high-quality ingredients and French cooking techniques.
Craig previously told People magazine the restaurant will be a “very special spot” with a “no flash photography” rule. He said the purpose of the ban is to ensure every patron can “be in the moment” and enjoy the dining experience.
Although he is clearly stoked about the big opening, Austen admitted he was initially hesitant to sign onto the project but was eventually convinced by his friends.
“I was like, ‘I think the bright lights of the West Village are blinding you,’” he recalled telling Craig. “Now we both talk about it all the time. I could not be more excited. I can’t wait for my first meal there — my second, my fifth, my tenth.”
When pressed about the decision to open a restaurant in NYC as opposed to Charleston, the two told People magazine they thought it would be a good way to expand their roots.
“Having something in New York City — which Craig and I both love so, so much and we both have aspired to live there — what a cool kind of opportunity to have,” Austen said.
