Destiney Rose’s New Accessories Line Is As Perfectly “Extra” As She Is
After years of putting her “passion on the back burner," the Shahs of Sunset cast member opens up about launching her gorgeous new accessories line.
When it comes to fashion, Destiney Rose is the first to admit she's fabulously over-the-top. "I’ve always been that extra extra," the Shahs of Sunset cast member told BravoTV.com. "I’ve always loved accessories, from dressing up to wigs to thigh-high boots to jewelry to sunglasses to gloves. I mean, everything from A-Z."
In July, Destiney officially turned her passion into a successful new venture when she launched AHHLOOO, an accessories line featuring pieces she creates and curates. While Destiney has always designed some of her own jewelry, she only recently realized she could share her products with consumers. "I can’t draw for sh-t, so god bless my jeweler, but I’ve always sketched certain things and I’d take it to [him] and he would make the pieces," she explained. "People would always ask, 'Oh my god, where’d you get that?' and it kind of was a moment of like, 'This is such a great feeling.'”
However, because of her work as CEO and founder of event company Liquid Sweets, she "never really had time to fully focus" on a jewelry business. She explained, "I allowed my fear to put my passion on the back burner."
That changed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, as Liquid Sweets was "really affected" by the inability to create many in-person events. Destiney was "so scared" about the future of her business, but having more time at home led her to finally create her own line. "Instead of having my sketches on the dining room table, it allowed me to actually focus more on what my passion was that I kept putting on the back burner," she recalled. "Sure enough, AHHLOOO started coming together, and now we’re here today and AHHLOOO is doing so amazing."
AHHLOOO, which Destiney described as "sass meets accessories," currently includes handbags, sunglasses, hats, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, anklets, wallets, and more. "It’s that kind of vibe that makes you channel your inner meow," she explained. "Who doesn't like dressing up and feeling good?"
Although Destiney has been known to splurge on certain pieces herself, she has no intention of asking her customers to do the same: "That is my number one goal: Cute things that [are] affordable."
Just a month after launching, the company is "already so successful," and Destiney's customers are helping her make big plans for the future. "I had probably six or seven people contact me in my DMs and tell me, 'Destiney, I would love if you would make a monthly AHHLOOO subscription box.' I love the idea," she said. "People are asking me about clothing and wigs and thigh-high boots. I don’t know, I might dabble into that."
She's even considering pieces inspired by one of her Below Deck favorites. "I actually really, really like Captain Lee [Rosbach]," she shared. "I know he likes sailor stuff. You never know, I might do a sailor collection and dedicate it to him. I like that he’s a no bullsh-t type of guy and he’s all about business. I really like that vibe."
