Christian Siriano Designed Christina Applegate’s Stunning Tuxedo Gown for the SAG Awards
The Project Runway mentor was “so proud” of the designs he put forth on the red carpet at the 2023 event.
On February 26, movie and television stars hit the red carpet for the 29th Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two actresses showed off enchanting Christian Siriano designs for the occasion.
The Bravo’s Project Runway designer celebrated his dressing both Christina Applegate and Laura Linney for the evening, sharing images of the two women on his Instagram page after the ceremony.
For Applegate, Christian designed a stunning silk-and-velvet tuxedo gown for the evening, also dressing her daughter, Sadie, in a custom black Siriano look as she accompanied her mother on the red carpet.
“This is a strong powerful woman right here! Dressing Christina tonight was such an honor. MS is such a nasty unforgiving disease but I’m so proud of this woman tonight for showing up and proving [to] the world what she can do,” Christian captioned a photo of the Dead to Me actress, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in August 2021.
“We say FU MS,” Christian continued in the caption, referencing Applegate's cane, which featured the powerful message.
In addition, Christian shared an image of Laura Linney in a ravishing “sequin appliqué velvet” gown featuring a high neckline, shoulder cutouts, and an elegant train.
“This woman is so incredible and this nomination is so deserved!” he added in the caption, also noting that the Ozark actress was drenched in Josh Levkoff jewels.
Keeping up with Christian’s designs during red-carpet season is definitely thrilling, considering how far the designer has come since winning Season 4 of Project Runway back in 2007.
In addition to the recent SAG Awards, we also caught up with Christian’s designs in early January at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards, where he reimagined the black tuxedo dress Billy Porter wore to the 2019 Academy Awards with a fuchsia-colored frock.
“THE KING [Billy Porter] in this custom Siriano tuxedo overlay gown tonight at the [Golden Globes]! Bammm,” Christian captioned a January 10 Instagram post of the elegant look, which also included a white button-down shirt and matching fuchsia bow tie.
The fashion designer also dressed actress Quinta Brunson in a stunning fishtail-silhouetted style composed of black tulle with hot pink flourishes around the neckline and tail of the dress.
