9 Fragrances That Let You Jet Around the Globe, No Passport Required
...even if your stuck at home.
I know, I know, the closest you’ll be coming to jet-setting in the next few months is flying a couple states over to visit your family. And as much as you might love your family, we’re betting that within two days of being with them 24/7, you’ll find yourself fantasizing about being as far away as possible … say, in sunny Tahiti or Morocco — or even all bundled up in the chilly streets London or Paris.
And since there's nothing wrong with a little globe-trotting escapism, we hunted down 9 scents to let you travel the world, if only in your mind.
Tahiti: Chantecaille Tiare
Close your eyes, breathe deep, and pretend you’re sitting on the shores of your very own motu (that’s ‘little island’ for the non-native French-Polynesians out there). This floral blend of tiare, gardenia, lily of the valley, and jasmine is all you need to really, really convince yourself that you’re there, not here.
Morocco: Estee Lauder Aerin Beauty Tangier Vanille
This scent is almost as fragrant as browsing a Moroccan bazaar, with top notes of vanilla bean, rose and bergamot grounded in amber, sandalwood, and musk.
Vietnam: Diptyque Do Son
Diptyque’s Do Son balances heady tuberose with exotic berries and flowers that let you feel like you’ve been transported to the lush coast of Vietnam.
Japan: Berdoues Somei Yoshino
Tide yourself over until you book a ticket to Japan for next year’s cherry blossom festival by misting on this fragrance, inspired by the nation’s famed sakura that snow down on Kyoto each spring.
India: Guerlain Samsara
It’s been nearly thirty years since Guerlain launched its insta-classic scent Samsara, which means you can time travel as you jet-set to India, thanks to its blend of bergamot, jasmine, narcissus, rose, ylang-ylang, iris, sandalwood, tonka bean, and vanilla.
France: Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris
Inspired by the city of love, YSL’s pink jus wafts notes of red berry, pear and soft white flowers that smell appropriately lovely.
England: Comme des Garçons Serpentine
Named for the Serpentine gallery in London, this artful blend is housed in a bottle designed by artist Tracy Emin. Technically, this one’s for the dudes, but the woodsy fragrance works just as well for us globe-trotting ladies.
Italy: Tom Ford Venetian Bergamot
While smelling like one of the city’s famed canals isn’t at the top of our list, a fragrance like this bergamot blend that lets us feel like we’re strolling through Venice’s streets definitely is.
Spain: Tocca Isabel
If a visit to Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia isn’t a reality this season, allow us to introduce you to your virtual tour guide, Isabel. Her notes of Bergamot, Spanish Rose, and Vanilla will make you feel like you're right at home in Spain’s second city, Barcelona.
