During Season 8 of Married to Medicine, Dr. Jackie Walters opened up about her new business venture, explaining in an episode interview that she was teaming up with beauty brand Volition “to see how [she] can balance the game for women of color.” After launching the Skin Rhythm serum last year, Jackie is continuing to accomplish her goal with a new product designed to help all skin types thrive in the summer and beyond.

What Is Adaptint™ Super Seamless Mineral Shield SPF 30?
According to Volition’s website, the unscented reef-safe, non-nano mineral sunscreen provides broad-spectrum sun protection as well as a “flawless matte finish.” The product — made with ingredients such as zinc oxide, hyaluronic acid, allantoin, sea kelp, aloe, and cucumber — is also formulated to provide “bare coverage with minimal white cast.” The SPF currently comes in two shades: cool/neutral undertones and warm undertones.
How Do I Use Adaptint™ Super Seamless Mineral Shield SPF 30?
Volition recommends applying the product to the entire face 30 minutes before sun exposure and reapplying it at least every two hours, or as needed. “At a minimum, I apply SPF once a day, but when my skin is in direct sunlight for extended periods of time, I make sure to reapply SPF every [two] hours,” Dr. Jackie explained in a Q&A on the Volition website.
Do I need to wear SPF all year-round?
“Many of my patients believe that they do not need SPF if they have melanated skin, and some also believe that if the sun isn’t out they do not think that their skin is being exposed to UVA/UVB rays,” Jackie shared via the Q&A. “Skin needs protection from the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays regardless of if you have melanated skin or not.”
