Dr. Heavenly Kimes is using dentistry to bring awareness to the Black Lives Matter protests. The Married to Medicine dentist recently provided a dental makeover to an 18-year old activist, Miracle Boyd, who says a police officer knocked out her front tooth during a Chicago protest.

How to Watch

Watch Married to Medicine premiering November 24 on Bravo. Now streaming on Peacock and the Bravo App.

In an Instagram Live Dr. Heavenly recorded with Boyd before the procedure so that she could share her story, Dr. Heavenly said, “I’m going to do some cosmetic work on that little baby, she is beautiful. She got hit in the mouth by a police officer. We’re going to take care of that.”

Boyd then explained what happened.

“I was at a protest in Chicago at the Columbus statue, and I was punched in the face by a police officer, because I was recording a male being arrested and I was trying to give him legal help, because when people tend to get arrested at protests, they have a tendency to not tell you who was arrested, and where they are,” said Boyd. “So I was trying to get his information, his first and last name, and there were two cops who walked up to me, and one of them punched me in the face, and he knocked my tooth out. I was bleeding really bad. I had pain in my teeth. It was one of the worst days of my life.”

In the video below, Boyd also said that she is a youth organizer for GoodKids MadCity, which she described as “a youth-led gun violence and restorative justice youth organization in Chicago.” The organization also has chapters in New York and Baltimore.

Dr. Heavenly then publicly shared a message to note how proud she is of Boyd for advocating for social justice.

“I just want to say to Miracle, in front of the world, I am so proud of you, young sister. For having the guts to do what you’ve done. To be able to go out there,” said Dr. Heavenly. “Y’all Generation Z, I think it is? Y’all are bold out there! And I love it. I thank you for that. This here what I’m doing here. It’s my obligation to give back to the community, I think that everybody has a position to play in all this Black Lives Matter. Mine might not be out there in the hot sun protesting with y’all, I’m older. But it can be that you’re in school, school means a lot. My son told me he’s protesting by being a Black man getting educated, I said that means so much.”

Dr. Heavenly also gave a shoutout to The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member Porsha Williams, who was arrested in Louisville, Kentucky on July 14 while protesting on behalf of Breonna Taylor.

“I just wanna thank y’all for doing what y’all doing. Porsha Williams, who’s out there, I know she got arrested and all that. Big ups to Porsha Williams, everybody who’s out there,” added Dr. Heavenly. “This is just all I can do. I can do good dental work, so I’m going to give her a free dental makeover.”

Once the procedure was completed, Dr. Heavenly shared a before and after photo, as well as a selfie with Boyd. “My beautiful Miracle,” she wrote. “I’m soo sorry this happened to you! Glad I could help.”
