The first lady debuted blonder-than-usual hair, and the Twitterverse is abuzz.
Melania Trump usually lets her outfits do the talking: The first lady keeps it simple when it comes to her beauty look, wearing her trademark brunette mane with subtle, almost ombre caramel highlights.
Her willingness to commit to a style was intentional. "When someone is going to be in the eyes of the public and will constantly be on the news, there is a look that people want to understand and be comfortable with and associate with," her hairstylist Mordechai Alvow told Refinery29 this summer. So yesterday, people noticed when Melania appeared on television with brighter blonde highlights framing her face. The first lady toured Joint Base Langley in Hampton, Virginia before her Fox News interview, and the footage of her new blonde look got Twitter talking.
One commenter posted: "Umm Melania went blonde all of a sudden?" Yet another Twitter user posted a play on the First Lady's signature Initiative "Be Best," writing, "Be blonde."
It's not quite Ivanka Trump levels of blonde, but it does make the first lady's hair look more beachy. Melania's long-time hairstylist confirmed to Refinery29 that he wasn't behind this color change.
