Where and How to Stream NYFW Shows Online
10 shows to watch live while wearing comfy sweats.
For everyone following along with New York Fashion Week at home, this might be the golden age for streaming shows online. Even as NYFW itself is changing at a rapid clip (with designers decamping for Paris and the schedule cut by one day), there are so many ways for brands to stream their shows live. There's Instagram Live, Facebook Live, YouTube, even virtual reality livestreaming. The only thing we have to do is clear time in our schedules to watch all these shows.
Here are 10 shows happening during NYFW (the schedule runs from Wednesday, September 6th to Wednesday, September 13th), with six that are confirmed to live stream and four we sincerely hope will stream online (the shows' livestreams sometimes aren't announced until 24 hours beforehand). If they aren't livestreamed officially, we're going to try to find someone in the front row who is uploading it all to Instagram. (PS: if you're looking for the Yeezy show, that date and time is still a mystery).
1. Confirmed Livestreaming Shows
VFILES, September 6th at 7:30 p.m.
The youthful fashion collective VFILES is moving to Brooklyn's Barclays Center for a showcase of up-and-coming designers like Christian Stone, Louis Pileggi, JunJie Yang and INXX. Plus, singer Jessie J will put on a performance too. Everything will stream on the VFILES site and through social media.
Tom Ford, September 6th at 8 p.m.
After skipping Fashion Week and experimenting with see now/buy now collection, Tom Ford is back on the NYFW schedule. He's showing on Day One, with an afterparty following the runway show and the immediate release of a new fragrance called "F**king Fabulous" (really!). Watch the show live tonight on Instagram.
Calvin Klein, September 7th at 8 p.m.
Former Dior designer Raf Simons declared a new era at Calvin Klein with his show back in February that introduced a dose of Americana — and crisp, tailored denim. New Calvin Klein faces Paris Jackson and Millie Bobby Brown might make an appearance at this year's show, which will stream live at calvinklein.com.
The CurvyCon, September 8th and 9th
This Is Us star Chrissy Metz is the headliner for at this year's TheCurvyCon, a two-day event held during NYFW with runway shows and panels. All the events will stream online at Yahoo Style, and Chrissy is set to take the stage on September 9th at 3:30 p.m. A runway show and panel will happen from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on September 8th and the events on September 9th will kick off at 9:45 a.m.
Uncommon James + Chinese Laundry by Kristin Cavallari, September 11th at 9 p.m.
Kristin Cavallari's brand-new jewelry line Uncommon James is making an appearance at NYFW as part of KiaPresentsStyle360, along with her shoe brand Chinese Laundry. Everything will be livestreamed on Facebook.
Torrid, September 12th at 1 p.m.
Plus-size retailer Torrid is staging a NYFW runway show that’s also a modeling contest for its third annual Model Search competition. Over 40 spring looks in sizes 10 to 30 will hit the runway.
Eva Longoria Collection, September 13th at 11 a.m.
After a collab with The Limited, actress Eva Longoria is showing her own affordable fashion line at New York Fashion Week for the first time this season. It will be streamed on Facebook Live and in virtual reality.
2. Projected Livestreaming Shows
Carolina Herrera, September 11th at 8 p.m.
Carolina Herrera's runway shows are always gorgeous, but this one is special: she'll be the first designer to host a full-blown runway show at MoMA. Swoon.
Helmut Lang Seen By Shayne Oliver, September 11th at 9 p.m.
Buzzy young designer Shayne Oliver of Hood By Air (he of the supremely weird shoes) is taking on classic brand Helmut Lang, and fashion folks are curious to see how that will pan out.
Marc Jacobs, September 13th at 6 p.m.
Last year, Marc Jacobs sent models like Kendall Jenner parading through a barebones indoor/outdoor runway set up that critics called ingenious. Will this year go back to elaborate sets? And will Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber make her NYFW debut at the show, as rumored?
